How to Install Waste Pipes And Traps (Video)
FloPlast provides a comprehensive range of waste systems and traps designed for efficient and versatile plumbing installations. Here's a guide to installing their products, ensuring proper assembly and functionality.
Choosing the Right Waste System
FloPlast offers two types of waste systems:
Push Fit Waste System: Quick and easy to assemble.
Solvent Weld Waste System: Creates a permanent bond.
Important: Do not mix the two systems in your installation. Use a universal compression fitting if joining them is unavoidable.
Installing Push Fit Waste Pipes
-
Measure and Cut
- Measure the required length of the pipe and cut to size.
- Ensure the cut edge is clean and burr-free.
-
Lubricate the Ring Seal
- Apply lubricant (either a grease tub or lubricant spray) to the ring seal inside the socket.
-
Assemble the Joint
- Push the pipe into the socket until it’s fully seated.
Installing Solvent Weld Waste Pipes
-
Measure and Cut
- Cut the pipe to the desired length and remove any burrs.
-
Apply Solvent Cement
- Brush solvent cement on the outside of the pipe and the inside of the socket.
- Wait 2-3 seconds for the cement to soften the plastic.
-
Assemble the Joint
- Push and twist the pipe into the socket for an even bond.
- Allow 5 minutes for the joint to set before handling.
Installing FloPlast Traps
FloPlast traps are fully compatible with both push-fit and solvent weld systems, thanks to their universal compression ends.
- Connect the trap to the waste pipe using the appropriate fittings for your system.
- Tighten the universal compression end to secure the connection.
By following these steps and selecting the correct FloPlast components, you can create a reliable and efficient waste system for your plumbing needs.
