GRP Roofing Installation Instructions
For a brief introduction into the Cromar ProGRP system and installation please watch the video below. For complete installation instructions please download the pdf here.
Brief installation instructions step-by-step:
-
The first stage of the application involves preparing and laying the deck by using OSB (Orientated Stranded Boards) decking boards and laying them side by side along the roof in rows until your reach the wall, at which you should apply another board but leave a 25mm gap between the board and the wall.
-
Secondly, you need to install the trims on the edges of the roof, which will be done by screwing them into place with ring shank nails, as well as creating corner joints out of the trim material.
-
Before starting the application of the actual GRP system, you need to make sure the roof is clear and that you have cut your fibreglass chop strand matting to size and in strips.
-
Roll the CSM (Chop Strand Matting) out across the whole roof area until you have covered it completely.
-
Commence the mixing of your resin to apply it to your chop strand matting across the whole roof, using the bubble buster at the end to roll on and smooth out the resin.
-
After the resin on your roof has dried, it is time to apply the topcoat. It is applied like the resin; all across the roof’s surface, but unlike the resin, you should also use the topcoat to cover all of your trims.
-
Finally, you should decide whether or not you want to add gravel for a non-slip finish, add another coat for a textured finish or apply any other kind of finish that you wish to.
